  • My Choice

    9

The Philippine Blog Awards is gonna raffle off a brand-new Nokia N82? And all I gotta do is vote for a blog vying for the Bloggers’ Choice Award to get a chance to win it? Why didn’t you say so in the first place? :P

Here’s my vote. Because I am a visual person and the first thing that attracts me to a blog is its aesthetics, I am voting for Octwelve. I’ve come across Luc Melgar’s blog a few times before since her portfolio is being featured on some well-known design sites I’m subscribed to. When I found out that it was a Filipina behind those awesome designs that’s being showcased alongside international projects, I felt proud. If she can do it, so can we! Only, I can’t. :(

It is blog designs like this one that makes me want to throw mine straight into the trash. And it is full-fledged freelance web designers like her who makes me want to give up my full-time job and fearlessly take on the Work-at-Home world. But, evidently, I’m still a looong way off, so I’m not gonna do that. Check out her rockin’ portfolio!

On a related note, the Philippine Blog Awards has opened 200 slots for bloggers who want to attend the Awards Night this Sunday. You may register here if you want a slot.

  • Calaguas Island

    23

Hidden somewhere in the Pacific coast of Camarines Norte in the region of Bicol is the group of islands called Calaguas. My friends and I took a 2-hour boat ride from a port (more like a creek, really) in Bagasbas, Daet to see these secluded islands with pristine beaches. The island we set foot on aren’t inhabited by that many locals, in fact there was just one house in the vicinity (that I know of). But the isolation didn’t bother us, it was actually the best thing about the island. I wouldn’t be thrilled to see the day they overly commercialize that place. If you’re the kind of person who freaks out when a proper toilet, bedroom, food establishment, or running water is not around, then this untainted island may not be the place for you. But if you don’t mind having limited access and you’re only concerned about being one with nature, then you will undoubtedly enjoy the solitude the Calaguas islands have to offer. :)

Er, okay, that first paragraph didn’t sound so right. It sort of reads like I’m selling the place! Sorry. It is just too beautiful to ignore. I mean, take a look at the white sand and crystalline waters in the photos below. I’m still deciding whether the beach in Calaguas is better than the white sand beach in Pagudpud..

  • Weekend Snapshots #5: Have It Your Way at Burger King

    11

I’m a terrible, terrible blogger. I started this Weekend Snapshots thing 6 months ago, but this entry right here is only my 5th. What ever happened to the other “weekends”?? I know it’s not really an issue (and I know you don’t really care), I’m just a tad disappointed in myself for not being able to keep up with this blog. Might as well shut it down. And look, I’m even 5 days late in posting this entry!

On to the so-called “blog post.”

Two weeks ago, I received an invite from Yehey! to participate in their “Have It Your Way At Burger King” promo here in Manila. Guess I was lucky to be one of the 50 bloggers they picked. In normal circumstances, after I’ve received an invite I would register myself but when the day of the event comes, I’d be too lazy to go. I’ve actually missed a lot of blogger events this year because I didn’t feel like attending the parties (boo!). But with Burger King’s promo, I knew I wouldn’t dare miss it. Because (1) I didn’t need to go to some party (antisocial much?), (2) I can bring 3 of my friends/family with me, (3) the FOOD is FREE, and (4) Burger King also happened to be one of our favorite fast-food restaurants.
