• Pets are Allowed

    1

“Few religions are definite about the size of Heaven, but on the planet Earth the Book of Revelation (ch. XXI, v.16) gives it as a cube 12,000 furlongs on a side. This is somewhat less than 500,000,000,000,000,000,000 cubic feet. Even allowing that the Heavenly Host and other essential services take up at least two thirds of this space, this leaves about one million cubic feet of space for each human occupant – assuming that every creature that could be called ‘human’ is allowed in, and the the human race eventually totals a thousand times the numbers of humans alive up until now. This is such a generous amount of space that it suggests that room has also been provided for some alien races or – a happy thought – that pets are allowed.”

    — Terry Pratchett (The Last Hero: A Discworld Fable)

A happy thought, indeed! I, for one, would love to see all my pets again. :D

  • What I Really Think of the Twilight Saga

My friend Rita, who just celebrated her first blog anniversary, showed me this funny spoof of Twilight’s book cover. LOL.

While it’s true that I called myself a fan of Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling saga a couple of times before, I am not offended every time I read a bad review about it. Truth is, I also have my own set of negative opinions of the Twilight series, especially when it comes to the “values” it teaches. I don’t, of course, think that I am actually that naive to be influenced by it, I just wish the kids who read it are smart enough to distinguish right from wrong. For one, giving up everything (your life, your youth, your family, your parents’ trust, academics, opportunities, among others) for that seemingly perfect guy (vampire or otherwise!) is severely frowned upon. Come on Bella, aren’t you supposed to be the strong, independent one?

I forgot to tell the waiter, who took this shot, to half-press first, thus the blur.

I spent the whole day today with my family. In the photo above are my parents, my brothers Jec and Jem, Sharon, Che-che, Deej, and me. This kind of gathering doesn’t happen everyday so I thought of preserving it using my camera and posting the photos here (plus, I really really want to update this blog because it’s a Saturday night and I got nothing else to do). We had lunch today at Pier One, Global City.
