  • Today, I turned 24

    30

When I was younger, I thought that by the age of 24, I’d already be settling down, or at least I’d already be wanting to have a family of my own. Why? Because my mom got married when she was 24, and I thought then that by that age, I’m also gonna want to move up another level. Today, I turned 24, but I still don’t feel ready for any of the serious stuff other grownups are facing. I don’t feel much change from when I turned 21, 22, and 23. In other words, I’m still immature and inadequate. Lol.

But it’s no big deal. I’m also excited about whatever this year has in store. “24″ is just a number. I shouldn’t feel intimated or pressured by it. Right? Hehe.

Thank you to everyone who sent their greetings! Here’s to another year of adventure and challenges! May God bless me and keep me. :)

  • Withdraw From Paypal to your Philippine Bank Account

    20

Last month, I waited two weeks for Union Bank to activate my EON card. I’ve only used it once, and now I may never have to. We (people residing in the Philippines) can now withdraw funds from our Paypal to our local bank accounts. I just tried adding my BPI account, and it was a success. Try adding yours too!

    Paypal withdraw philippine bank accounts

As you can see, it’s way cheaper to withdraw funds to a local bank account than to a credit / debit card. The former only costs PhP50.00 to withdraw an amount of PhP 6,999.99 or less, and free for PhP 7,000 or more; while the latter costs US$5.00 for every withdrawal. Both transactions take 5-7 business days of processing time.

Here are the bank codes that you will need:

    • ALLIED BANKING CORP 010320013
    • ASIA UNITED BANK - 011020011
    • BANGKO SENTRAL NG PILIPINAS - 010030015
    • BANCO DE ORO (& EQUITABLE PCI BANK) - 010530667
    • BANK OF COMMERCE - 010440016
    • BANK OF THE PHIL ISLANDS (BPI) - 010040018
    • CHINA BANKING CORP 010100013
    • CHINA TRUST COMML BANK - 010690015
    • CITIBANK N.A. - 010070017
    • DEVT BANK OF THE PHILS (DBP) - 010590018
    • EAST WEST BANK - 010620014
    • EXPORT & INDUSTRY BANK - 010860010
    • JP MORGAN CHASE BANK - 010720011
    • LANDBANK OF THE PHILS - 010350025
    • MAYBANK OF THE PHILS - 010220016

    • PHIL BANK OF COMMUNICATION - 010110016

    • PHIL NATIONAL BANK (PNB) - 010080010
    • PRUDENTIAL BANK - 010150018
    • PHIL VETERANS BANK  - 010330016
    • RIZAL COMML BANKING CORP (RCBC) – 010280014
    • SECURITY BANK & TRUST CO - 010140015
    • STANDARD CHARTERED BANK - 010050011
    • UNITED COCONUT PLANTERS BANK - 010299995
    • UNION BANK OF THE PHILS (UBP)  - 010419995
    • UNITED OVERSEAS BANK - 010270189

Then again, never say never. I know I don’t have to say goodbye to my still-shiny, hardly-used EON card. Since it’s a Visa debit card, I still may be able to use it in more ways than one.

What’s your local bank account? Have you tried adding it to your Paypal?

  • Windows Live Writer

    9

You know how you try to write your blog entries off line first before you publish the thing to the web? Well, say goodbye to Notepad and Word doc, and hello to Windows Live Writer. This baby allows you to blog from your desktop without having to connect to the Internet. You can use it when you’re out with your laptop or when your connection at home is down (happens to me a lot, but whatever). I’m even writing this entry from Starbucks right now. No, I’m not about to pay for their ridiculous P100/hour wifi rate.

What’s even greater about this Live Writer is you can connect directly to your WordPress.com or self-hosted WordPress.org blog (just enter your login details in the configuration popup screen) then it copies your “Weblog Style” so you can see the actual layout of your post while you’re typing. Here’s a screenshot of my Live Writer:

Pretty nifty, huh? You can can also choose the Web Preview option:

It’s packed, of course, with all the other useful blogging thingamajigs like “Save Draft”, “Spell Check”, “Insert Picture, Hyperlink, Table, Map, Tags, Video”, “HTML Code Editor”, and more. It also provides the quick links to your blog and your Dashboard on the left side of the screen, and it automatically uploads the images on your post to the “Uploads” folder in your server.

Windows Live Writer can be downloaded FREE from this page. Read more about it here. I tried to install Live Writer on my PC in the office, but apparently it doesn’t work with MS Office 2003. I’m not sure what it actually requires, but it works well with the MS Office 2007 on my laptop.

Evidently, Live Writer is only for PC users. Mac users can enjoy the same capabilities by purchasing MarsEdit at $29.95 with a free 30 day trial.

Btw, I got this desktop blogging idea here. This is not a sponsored post!
