I know that’s hardly what I can call “news”, but I just wanted to have a way to explain the sudden weirdness my blog caused yesterday (say, the 10 posts that suddenly appeared in your feed readers?). I just moved my blog to Dreamhost from its home for more than a year with HostingPH. It’s sad to have to say goodbye to my old web hosting where my so-called netrepreneurship efforts began (lol!), but I can no longer afford to keep two hosting plans. Besides, it would be unwise not to make use of the vast bandwidth and disk space Dreamhost provides, so I might as well put them to good use. If you need someone to host your domain, you can contact me.
HostingPH (aka Pinoyhosting), my former web host, was just okay. I didn’t have problems with them in general and they did respond immediately to my inquiries but what I don’t like about them is their not-so-friendly staff. I hated those times when I was in a panic mode needed them to help me with something and they would just reply with a one-liner e-mail. Mostly with just a “phrase” too. I mean, it wouldn’t hurt them to show a little – but genuine – concern, would it?
Anywho, that’s all in the past! It’s time to move on. There were plenty of errors around here yesterday (e.g. images embedded in entries were nowhere to be found, and some of the plugins weren’t working), but I got them all fixed today. I think.
If you’re planning to move your WordPress blog from one web host to another, there’s a lot of tips out there that you might want to read first. To put it simply though, you must make sure you backup your files, transfer them to your new host, and modify the nameservers of your domain first before you cancel your account with your current host. Do it the other way around and you just might be forced to say goodbye to all the blog posts, comments, images, and other data you’ve collected over the past years! Or less. Whatever. :D

To those who enjoyed the funny photos I embedded in my previous post, I forgot to include one more photo that you might want to see! How could I have neglected this guy? I mean, he clearly has the hardest job among the group, not to mention, the greasiest. I’m sure the fumes aren’t doing him any good in there too. Poor guy. I wouldn’t smoke in there if I were him though!

Hehe, naisip ko rin yun, nung pumasok sa feed reader ko yung 10 posts mo hehe, naglilipat ka siguro, haha, tama nga. Well yay to dreamhost!! 100+ USD a month is so worth it. Shucks, ibusiness na naten mag host. PINKNETWORK PINKNETWORK!! :P
i mean, 100+ USD a YEAR, not MONTH. Kmusta naman yun.
RIZ: Ahaha! Kamusta nmn yung $100+ a month! Grabe na yun! :P
PINKNETWORK! Ano na?? Pano?? Haha.
I’ve been thinking about getting a new domain/host for my wordpress blog. Maybe soon I’ll make the big move. What’s giving me 2nd thoughts is the fact that my blog is not that big enough to be “independent” and I don’t have enough knowledge of CSS/wordpress installation stuff.hehe Maybe I’ll contact you for my blog hosting. :)
MICHELLE: Sure! I can help you out. ;)
*big smile*
you know what i mean. =)
Congratulations :D Change is constant ^^
aliw talaga! save the best for the last hahaha :P
TARITS: Oh I do, I do! lol. :cute: :dead:
CHETTE: Ehehe, I can hardly call that an accomplishment, but thanks.
MAE: Korek, haha. Wawa nmn sya no? :P
Congratulations on the worry-free host switch. Hehe.
I haven’t checked my Google Reader yet kaya hindi ko pa nakikita yung 10 post. :)
Poor guy. And yeah, he’s not the brightest person in the world with that cigarette in his mouth.
Oh and I forgot to ask… Speaking of jobs, do we have an office dress code? Work hours are 8:30 am – 5:30 pm right? Do we work on Saturdays?
Congratulations with your new home! Btw, that makes us neighbors now. Hehe :D
joni…san ang punta mo sa 2008 ha?:P
Haha, your paragraph about HostingPH caught my attention. I have the exact same issues with them (actual reply as a representative of a COMPANY, anyone?!? and do I dislike that support tech with a passion or what?!? ), as well as additional ones here and there. I’m clearly lost as to how I managed to stay with them for three years, but like you said, it’s all in the past. Though I’d still have to keep in touch somewhat since I quickly registered a 2nd domain name just so I can play around with the space I already paid for with them… Meh.
Hee, DreamHost. XD I have a friend who’s having the same kind of I-have-too-much-space-and-bandwidth!!! “problem” (if you can call it that :P) atm, it’s quite amusing. ^^ Hopefully you find time to figure out what to do with most of what you paid for. :D
Congrats on the new webhost, Joni! :) Ako naman may good news din… wala na akong sore eyes, thank God :)
Congratulations on your new neighborhood. Kung may pera lang ako and means to afford Dreamhost webhosting, lilipat din ako. Pero wala eh, kaya hahaha na lang. ;) Good luck. :D
Hay, too true. Kaso you’d never know it’s the wrong job unless you get to do it, right? Besides, in the Philippine context, one cannot afford to pass up on the opportunity to earn money. Di naman din kasi lahat sa atin may napag-aralan talaga. *sighs*
I’ve been with dreamhost before, they’re pretty good with support and uptime but I had issues with their payment system. I’d pay, they’d claim I hadn’t, I’d repay and it would just keep going and going, etc.
But that was years ago so I’m sure they’ve solved that issue by now. Enjoy your new host!
