  • Three Reasons Why I Love This Month of August

    17

This post will tell you some stuff about me: That I’m somewhat of a bookworm, that I’m a borderline computer geek, and that I’m sort of what you can call a “thoughtful” girlfriend. (LOL! Just kidding!)

I love this month of August because…

    ONE.

    Harry Potter
Powerbooks is having their biggest sale of the year every August. I recall August of last year when I also bought Haruki Murakami novels at Powerbooks, and this year (once again) proved how impulsive I can be when it comes to books. This time, I immersed myself in the Harry Potter series. I admit that I was a bit indifferent toward J.K. Rowling’s best-selling masterpiece when it was released a few years ago (I was watching the movies but I wasn’t reading the books. I only read The Sorcerer’s Stone back then). I kept telling myself that I should get on with reading the rest of it, but I also kept pushing the idea back. Finally, last month, just before the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix film came out, I began reading the series again. And because Powerbooks is having a 30% discount on their Harry Potter books, I went ahead and bought the rest of them. It’s needless to say that I have also been officially sucked into Harry Potter’s magical world.

I still haven’t read Book Seven, though. I wanted to wait for the paperback copy but it looks like it’s not going to be released for another 6 months or so. Fine – I guess the hardbound one will do. Or should I just read the e-book? Heh.

    TWO.

I got my new laptop last week. Almost four weeks ago, I asked my boss, who’s living in the US, if he could buy me a Notebook PC before he comes to visit us here in Manila again. I was so psyched when he agreed to it. However, there was a slight delay with its delivery which made me worry a little (it was also held at Customs!). But that doesn’t matter anymore — it was definitely worth the wait. (Thanks, Graeme! If you happen to chance upon this blog post. Hehe.)

  • My First Taste of Taste Asia

    14

So last night was the second Bloggers Party held at SM Hypermarket (MoA). I was with Riz, Marian, Mae, Liz and Romzkee. I talked a bit with two of my officemates from my previous job, Ganns and Anna. Some of the bloggers I met at the Blog Parteeh ‘07 and Philippine Blog Awards 2007 were there too: Jomar, Jeff, Darwin, L.A., Apples and Chris, Jun, Shari and brother Robby, Geri, Eugene, Cathy, Fer, and more. It’s my first time to meet Tiffany (with her sister and friends), Karlo, Paul Vincent, Jehzeel, and some others (Sorry, I can’t remember everyone’s names!). I didn’t get to meet Teacher Julie, though (Aw.. next time na lang po ulit!). Bossing Marc was there too with his beautiful *ehem* fiancee, Sharmskee. ;)

It was a fun night, but I think I would’ve enjoyed the party more if there were tables and chairs so people could’ve interacted more comfortably. And the place was, well, a little crowded. But, the food’s free so I shouldn’t be complaining! lol. It wasn’t the best bloggers party I’ve been too (not that I’ve been to many “blogger parties” ) and personally, I still think the Blog Parteeh last January was a lot more fun. My feet got a little sore from standing around the whole night which is why I’m a little disappointed. But that’s just me! Please don’t start throwing deadly daggers my way just because I voiced out an opinion. Like everyone else, I enjoyed the Clique Booth thing. Yes, Clique Booth, you deserve the link love! Check out my pics with these five beautiful ladies:

Once again, I regret not being able to meet more bloggers than I hoped I would. Wish there’d be more blogger parties in the future! Let’s find out what the events Abe has planned in the next quarter are.

  • “There must be more to life than this.”

    18

If you’re someone close to me, you probably hear me say this particular sentence several times a year. I don’t know why but whenever I realize the happenings in my life are, once again, becoming ONE BIG DULL ROUTINE, I just find myself suddenly letting out a long forlorn sigh and muttering the words, There must be more to life than this.

Two nights ago, I was chatting with a former colleague who’s now working in Dubai. She told me she’s surprised that I’m still where I am and that I haven’t packed my bags and moved somewhere far because she knows that I’m not the type who can just sit still for a long period of time and do the same stuff over and over again. She’s right, I get bored really quickly. Not just over the things I do, but also of the place and other circumstances. The thing is, though — I may sometimes feel tired of life’s monotony, but I do know that it’s not that easy to turn my back from my responsibilities just because I’m bored out of my wits. And, there’s also the fact that I can sometimes be a coward. Heh.

So when you hear me say those words, don’t mind me. I’m just having one of those days when I feel down and could really use a good vacation. Good thing there’s, at least, the long weekend ahead to look forward to, huh?

*Sigh* There must be more to life than this…
