  • Life’s Too Short For The Wrong Job

    17

What a worse way to start the week! I have a running nose, a throbbing head, and a fuzzy eyesight. I used to think that I’m not the kind that gets sick after I get myself wet from walking in the rain, but last Saturday night proved me wrong. While I was on my way to a couple of friends’ birthday, it started to pour hard. And since I forgot to bring an umbrella (that night of all nights!), I didn’t have a choice but to run in the rain. I wanted to wait but the dark sky that night looked like it didn’t have plans of going away anytime soon. So when I got to her place I was soaking wet… The air conditioner was on… I stayed there for more or less 12 hours… You get the picture.

But I did have a fun weekend! Friday night, I was with Riz. And Saturday night, with these guys. Thanks, friends! Ang kukulit nyo! I had the best time. :)

So, it’s Monday again (the day of the week that I dread the most) and I’m sick. Way to kick me when I’m down!!

Good thing my job is not anything like these guys… » Read the rest of the entry..

  • Can’t Focus?

    12

Can’t FocusI have this leaflet situated right in front of me in the office for the past three days now. I can’t say that I am totally annoyed by it because every time I’m having a hard time concentrating on the work I have to do, I glanced down at the thing and see myself as the girl version of the guy in the photo who looks like he’s on the verge of going crazy! It’s like the leaflet has the ability to recognize and feel my emotion at those moments. Ah, empathy.

“Can’t Focus?” You got that right, buddy!

This little thing fell into my hands last Tuesday. I was seated in front of my PC minding my own business, when suddenly a group of five or six people wearing bright green T-shirts entered our office and called out a loud “GOOD AFTERNOOOON!!” It was really rude how they just barged in unannounced and started shouting like that. They then went straight to our desks to hand each of us a leaflet with a teabag attached inside. Those “green” people were from this well-known international tea company that’s promoting their product by distributing teabag samples in offices. Apparently, drinking green tea helps one focus more on the work he’s supposed to do..

“When the pressure’s on and distractions are everywhere, it’s time to get in The Zone: a unique mental state that lets you block out any disturbances in your work, helping you make the best of your workday!”

While that message sounds appealing, I unfortunately do not like green tea. lol.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have something that you can just gulp down to wash all the stress and distractions away? I don’t know if that thing exists. The only thing that, at least, relaxes me everyday is having had a right amount of sleep (which I rarely get nowadays). And of course, downing coffee in the morning, can’t forget that one. Sadly though those stuff do not always keep me focused. lol.

On a lighter and “more focused” note — it was my mom’s birthday yesterday! She and my dad prepared food for the mini-dinner party at home last night for everyone: me, my two brothers, and my parents’ soon-to-be children-in-law. LOL! Anna Grace was there too. It was just a small and simple gathering, but it was nice to have everyone around. :) » Read the rest of the entry..

  • 7 Facts About Me

    5

I’ve been tagged with the meme “7 Facts About Me” by Michelle (twice), but since I’ve already participated in a similar meme before (the “Five Things You Didn’t Know About Me”) I’m just going to add two more to the list. :D

    Two facts about me:

    1. I am currently avoiding every blog post (and news article) that talks about the book “Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows.” Yes, I deliberately skipped reading your posts (You, you, and you there! You know who you are. :cute:) I’m just about to read Book 6 (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) and I don’t want to read any spoilers! lol. I usually don’t mind learning about the ending way before I get to it, but it’s different with Harry Potter. IT’S HARRY POTTER! I just can’t afford to spoil the thrill. I’m sure you know what I mean. :P
    2. I have good sense of direction (or so I’d like to believe). Between me and my older brother, I know more about my way when I’m driving than he does when he’s driving. Our dad used to say that I’m a better driver than my older brothers not only because I get familiar with directions faster, but also because I’m the only one who hadn’t left a dent in his (very old albeit very useful) car. lol.

It’s unlikely for me to get lost in a place where I’ve been to at least once before. I almost always remember the right direction. This was especially useful three years ago when I was just learning my way around Metro Manila. :D

One more related thing is I don’t get scared when I’m stuck in an unfamiliar place. I love exploring new places! I don’t go all panicky and I don’t have a problem asking locals about directions — which others, strangely, find embarrassing.
