  • A Badly Needed Surgery

    18

For the second time in 3 months, another dentist confirmed that I, indeed, need a tooth surgery. Apparently, my wisdom tooth (the bottom-left one) is impacted and needs to be pulled out as soon as possible. I want to doubt their diagnosis, but since both dentists said almost the exact same thing to me, and it is true that I’ve had two major toothaches and swollen gum problems in the last 8 months, they leave me with nothing else to do but give out a nervous laugh.

Two months ago, the first dentist told me that I should have an x-ray so they could confirm if I needed a tooth extraction or not. But I chickened out and never did it. You see, I’m a big fan of the expression: “What you don’t know can’t hurt you.” LOL. And now I think my negligence is catching up on me. =/

Both doctors kept using the words “surgery” and “incision” and every time they did, I could imagine myself inside an OR, lying in a hospital bed with bright lights beaming at me, surgical doctors wearing masks on their faces with deadly surgical instruments in their hands hovering over me, and my life flashing before my eyes. — LOL. I think I’ve just been watching too much Grey’s Anatomy. But I am having those horrible thoughts. Haha.

Today, I’m still in a stage of denial. So while everything (and by that I mean my wisdom tooth and gums) is doing fine, I’m not gonna think about me going through a surgery. Not yet, at least. There’s just too much fear and drama in that. I don’t think I can handle it yet.

    Waaah. I need my mom.

  • Hammies’ New Home and Friendster Snooping

    6

old homeMy lovable little hamsters have been living in a small cage since the day I brought them home. What they thought about the sheer smallness of the cage, which was rather a claustrophobic place to live in even for hamsters, I would never know. If they were able to talk, I can just imagine them standing up and rallying against the agony they’ve put up with for the past 3 months! All they were able to do in it was eat, drink water, and turn the cage into a mini monkey bar gym. They had an exercise wheel which I also took away because it made the cage look more crowded than it already is. Basically, the old cage was a boring place to be.

new home for hammiesLast Sunday, with a little elbow nudge from someone, I was finally able to buy my poor hamsters a new home. It’s fun, bigger and colorful. Definitely a conducive place for the little ones to live and start a family in. LOL. They hardly sleep now because they play and run on their exercise wheel a lot. And believe it or not, last night Mr. Jingles was able to pop the top cover of the cage open! I guess I wasn’t able to close it tight before going to bed. He’s very feisty for something so small. We like to think of him as tnew home for hammieshe hamster-version of Prison Break’s Michael Scofield — always trying clever tricks to break out of his little “prison”. Hehe!

They seem a lot happier now. Which in turn makes me happy too.

Speaking of Prison Break, I’m excited to find out what happens in Episode 12! If only the download gets a little faster..

I was bored so I clicked around Friendster for a little while. I viewed the profile pages of some friends, clicked on their Friends list, and from there added new friends who I didn’t have yet on my list. I don’t normally do this, and I actually have a thing against Friendster, but I was bored and it’s also nice to read about what my friends (and acquiantances) are up to these days.  I clicked some more, hopped from one page to another until, voila! I stumbled upon the profile of my high school crush! LOL. His face didn’t change at all and he still plays basketball, but strangely, I no longer find him attractive. Haha. He did remind me though of the fun I used to have with my barkada, just ogling watching him strut his stuff from afar, wondering if he even knew we exist… It’s pathetic, I know. But it’s high school, what did you expect?

Hmm. This does not change the fact that I think Friendster has now become very overrated. LOL. But it’s a good pastime. :D

  • ReviewMe

    2

I first read about ReviewMe on Melissa’s blog, then was even more intrigued when I read about it on two more blogs. I thought, since these bloggers seem to have faith in it and find it reasonable, then it must be worth trying out. I signed up for an account yesterday and after reading their 5-point FAQ, I have to agree that ReviewMe does seem simple enough even for someone like me to handle. LOL. And they do have a cute-looking, easy-to-navigate dashboard.

I’ve tried a couple of things to earn through my blog in the past — even recently with which I was a little uncomfortable with (as some of you know) — and I can tell that ReviewMe is quite different from the rest… in a good way. Three things come to mind as to why I think it’s good:

One – I can disclose that a certain blog entry is a paid post. That way, the very few people who regularly check on my blog would not go “Huh? What was that about?” anymore when they read about stuff I wouldn’t normally write about. So yes, people, this is a sponsored review and I haven’t gone totally schizo yet! Hehe

Two – ReviewMe does not require a “positive” review about their potential sponsors. In this case: their service. There’s no pressure whatsoever. So now I can write some negative things about them and they would still be paying me. Neat, huh? But I won’t, since I actually find their service great. At least for now. LOL.

Three – They have their own way of star-ranking a website from 1 to 5 to determine its price. I think taintedsong was priced fairly. It’s not much, but for this very simple and breezy post, it’s definitely worth it. So if I get this right, a check will be on its way shortly.

But what intrigues me most is how the people behind ReviewMe have come up with this linkbaiting idea. Giving away a total of $25,000 to its members with written reviews (and backlinks!) on their websites is sheer genius. I can just imagine the sudden boost in their number of incoming links within a short period of time, considering too its current PR of 1. This brilliant tactic would no-doubt attract more bloggers and advertisers alike. Kudos to its owners!

Go, give it a try. :)
